Quality

The materials for each item I sell are carefully chosen. A poor quality of yarn cannot produce a high quality product. I like to use natural fibres as much as possible: real wool, cotton, silk, mohair, alpaca. When cared for properly, these fibres will give years of service.

Local

I like to support local businesses.  Of course not everything can be sourced locally so next I look for smaller businesses with a local connection. In Canada we cannot get locally sourced merino, (for example) but I can get locally dyed merino from a family run business. I also like to support small businesses around the world.  These small businesses generally know their producers, live in the same communities and work together to improve conditions for everyone.

price

Everyone loves a good deal but what are you willing to sacrifice to get that deal? It costs to produce high quality wool and to pay workers fair wages. It costs to dye gorgeous colors and keep people and the environment safe at the same time. It costs to write patterns and weave each item by hand. All these costs add up. I try to price fairly. For a plain weave scarf I usually charge 3x the materials. So if the materials cost me $50.00, I charge you $150.00. That allows me to pay for the materials for your scarf, buy materials for a new scarf, and have a little bit left over to pay myself. More complex weaves or weaves that are more time consuming will be priced accordingly.
