Project Planning - The Basics - October 31

CA$80.00

📅 Dates: October 31, 2026
Time: 2:00–5:00 PM ADT
💻 Where: Zoom
💰 Cost: $80 CAD
👥 Minimum: 3 students required for each class to run

I know what it’s like to stare at a cupboard full of yarn and have no idea what to do with it.

I also know the feeling of falling in love with a skein in a shop and leaving it behind because I didn’t know how to calculate how much I needed. Or if it was even suitable.

If you’ve experienced this too, this class is for you! We’ll cover the basics of project planning - warp, weft, reeds and calculations. We’ll also talk about why the fibre content matters, how colours fit together, and I’ll share how I plan and sample (or not)!

What You’ll Learn

🧶 How to match your yarn to your reed — or your reed to your yarn
🧶 What to consider when choosing yarns for warp and weft
🧶 How warp and weft yarns interact, including solids and variegated yarns
🧶 How yarn characteristics, including superwash and non-superwash, can affect your finished cloth
🧶 How to calculate warp length and how much warp and weft yarn you'll need
🧶 What ends per inch, picks per inch, take-up and loom waste mean — and why they matter
🧶 How choices such as sett and pick-up patterns can affect the way your finished project looks
