Private Rigid Heddle Weaving Class
This private class is designed for weavers who want a calm, supportive introduction to weaving tea towels on a rigid heddle loom. If you bought a loom because you wanted to weave practical, beautiful cloth—but aren’t sure where to begin—this class will guide you through the process step by step.
Together, we’ll work at your pace, focusing on understanding the “why” behind each step so you leave feeling confident, capable, and ready to continue weaving on your own. This is not a rushed class, and it’s not about doing things the “one right way.” It’s about finding what works best for you.
The class can be taught as:
One longer session, or
Split over two days, depending on your schedule, energy, and learning style
Setting up your rigid heddle loom for warping
Warping with two colours, including colour changes in the warp
Winding the warp and managing even tension
Tying on and spreading the warp
Weaving plain weave with consistent picks per inch
Making nearly invisible weft colour changes
Measuring as you weave
Removing your towels from the loom
Wet finishing and hemming for durable, everyday towels
You’ll receive clear written instructions, photos, and video resources so you can revisit techniques after class and continue weaving with confidence.
Two handwoven tea towels
Approximate finished size: 16.75” x 26.5” each
Private, one-on-one instruction
