Loopy Pillow

CA$10.99

The Loopy Pillow is a beginner-friendly introduction to weaving two layers of fabric at the same time using two heddles on a rigid heddle loom.

In this project, the two layers are woven together to create a tube of fabric, making it perfect for a pillow cover.

To make the structure easier to understand, the two layers are woven in different colours. This allows you to clearly see which threads belong to each layer and how the layers interact as you weave. Being able to see this relationship makes learning two-layer weaving much easier for beginners.

The pillow format keeps the project short and manageable, making it a great introduction to working with two heddles without committing to a very large project.

For added interest, I’ve included sections of super-bulky yarn to create some fun texture and colour.

By the time you finish this pillow, you will have learned the fundamentals of weaving two layers of cloth at once, preparing you for larger projects and even double-width weaving.

Makes
One pillow approximately 12" × 18".

Who This Project Is For

This project is designed especially for beginner rigid heddle weavers who are ready to explore working with two heddles.

Because the two layers are woven in different colours, it becomes much easier to see what is happening inside the structure. Many weavers find this visual clarity extremely helpful when learning two-layer weaving.

The project is intentionally short and approachable, making it a great way to try a new technique without feeling overwhelmed.

If you are curious about weaving layered structures and want a project that builds confidence before tackling larger pieces, this pillow is an excellent place to start.

What You Will Need

·         A total of 2 skeins of Malabrigo Rios - one each in contrasting colours (I’ve used Black/Natural and Natural/Reflecting Pool

·         1 skein Malabrigo Rasta (I’ve used Indiecita and Amphibian)

·         One 12" × 18" pillow form

You can substitute; however, I know that these yarns will work together and finish to fit the pillow form.
