2 Cubed Scarf Zoom January 10th
2 Cubed Scarf — Rigid Heddle Weaving Class
🗓 Date: Saturday, January 10th
⏰ Time: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM AST
📍 Location: Online via Zoom
Are you looking to learn how to use two heddles to achieve the proper sett? This class is a great introduction to 2-heddle weaving. I’ll walk you step-by-step through warping, threading, and weaving a simple and beautiful scarf.
We’ll start with just enough threading to learn the rhythm without feeling overwhelmed. Then we’ll explore a small section of plain weave before jumping into a simple waffle-weave pattern. Don’t be intimidated by the two pick-up sticks—it's easier than it looks, and I’ll guide you the whole way.
Students will come to class warped so we can jump right into threading.
What we’ll cover
How to warp for a 2–heddle project
Threading and managing two heddles
Using two pick-up sticks confidently
Understanding sett and yarn suitability
Weaving a simple, textured waffle pattern
Materials & Equipment
To participate in the class you’ll need:
A rigid heddle loom (minimum 12") with 2-heddle capability
Two 7.5- or 8-dent reeds
Two pick-up sticks
Two 400m/100g skeins of fingering-weight yarn
Shuttles, warping tools, and your usual weaving equipment
What you’ll make
A soft and textured scarf measuring approximately 7 ¾" × 67", plus fringe.
If you’ve been curious about weaving with two heddles but weren’t sure where to start, this is a friendly and approachable way to build your skills.
*STUDENTS SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE WARPING INDEPENDENTLY*
