Falling Leaves - In-person Class
📅 Date: October 3, 2026
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
📍 Where: Halifax, Nova Scotia
💰 Cost: $65
This project started with a question: Could I change warp colours without actually changing the warp?
Turns out, I can — and so can you! With some creative warping and a combination of pick-up sticks and string heddles, you can create a warp that lets you choose which colours appear as you weave.
in this class we’ll warp together - so if you feel like you need a little help, I’ll be there. Plus, I’ll show you how I warp - three colours at once!
Once we get all wound on we’ll be ready to weave! We’ll start with pick-up sticks and then move to string heddles. We’ll talk about when you might prefer 2 pick-up sticks and when string heddles might be the better option. And we’ll cover the unique issues that come up in this particular style of weaving.
What You'll Learn
🍃 How to warp multiple colours together efficiently — including how I manage three colours at once
🍃 How to keep all those threads organized as you warp and wind on
🍃 How to set up your pick-up sticks and work with two different pick-up sequences
🍃 How to make and use string heddles as an alternative to reinserting your pick-up stick
🍃 How to choose which warp colours appear as you weave
🍃 How to move between the different colour blocks to create the Falling Leaves design
